Our History: Synergy of the Principals
Newton Oldacre McDonald's principals, Tom Newton, Bill Oldacre, and Mark McDonald, bring combined experience and leadership of over 80 years in the retail development industry. The principals maximized their partnership of skills, expertise, and vision to create Newton Oldacre McDonald.
In the early 1980's, The Newton Company, under the ownership of Tom Newton, developed its first Winn-Dixie shopping center in Prattville, Alabama. Within eighteen months, The Newton Company completed six more Winn-Dixie centers.
In 1989, Oldacre Associates joined The Newton Company in a joint venture development of a Wal-Mart anchored center in Brownsville, Tennessee. Finally, in 1991, Mark McDonald merged his retail center development firm, The Signature Group to complete the partnership. At a key turning point, the principals determined the company's critical path to success: Bring all development functions in-house to best serve corporate clients.
